Miniature Whielden TBS c1760
A very rare miniature Whielden teabowl and saucer, produced in Staffordshire around 1760. The early date is confirmed by the depth of the saucer – it may be a transport café afterthought today, but early tea drinkers in polite society used to pour tea from the bowl to cool, then drink from the saucer . . . so the capacity of each had to be the same.
