John Duvall (1816-1892) – Suffolk, Signed oil on canvas, Camp scene with pony and dogs

£675.00

Fr. 25″ by 21″ Canvas. 18″ by 14″
Duvall was one of Suffolk’s best known artists of the 19th Century, many of his patrons were the gentry who commissioned him to paint their horses.
The Suffolk Society used his drawings in their stud book in 1881.
The 19th Century traveller is an interesting subject. They moved with the farming Year offering assistance with crops as well making artefacts for sale.
In this composition we see the country folk preparing their meal on a cooking pot, alongside their trusty livestock and dogs.
