John Berney Crome (1794-1842) “Moonlit Crome” Norwich School oil on panel Circa 1820 in John Thirtle frame, illustrated “Norwich School”
£2,750.00
9″ by 13.5″ Frame: 19″ by 24″
The eldest and most talented of John Crome's sons, so excelled at moonlight scenes, he became known as “Moonlit Crome”.
President of the Norwich Society in 1819 at a Young age.
The influence of the Dutch artist Van de Neer is evident, but JB adds a degree of mystery to his best moonlight works which the Lowland painters are not able to achieve. Lovely depth in these early works.
