Coming in soon for our Winter Show………Henry Bright (1810-1873) Norwich School, Pair of signed and dated Oil on panels, “Land scene with cattle and an overshot Mill wheel”
Frames: 16″ by 13″ Panels: 12″ by 10″
Bright was a friend of JMW Turner and attempted in a similar way to capture light in various modes. Although born in Suffolk, he is regarded as a member of the Norwich School.
Wonderful colours and textures revealed post cleaning and varnishing, the pair date to the 1840’s when Bright was at the height of his powers, he achieved a fluency rarely seen in Norwich School works.
We believe possibly an exercise in shade and motion.
Provenance: East Anglian collection.
