Is “brown” back ….the latest trend for “Dark Academia”
We have noticed some younger buyers in the showroom recently, looking at traditional furniture again.
One such couple asked if we could find suitable items to furnish an interior in the style of “dark academia”.
Not having heard this expression before, I searched online.
What a brilliant term, a sub culture for the pursuit of moody, European and British trad library type interiors and clothing, associated with quality, well made materials to give an exotic mysterious look.
Our take on it, is the rebellion against the throw-away society, the mass produced, the factory made, the non-traditional and the millions of air miles, non “green!”. The celebration of our culture, heritage and yes not everything in our history was perfect, but many things were better than they are now.
The celebration of pieces which have already led a useful life, will last us a “life-time” and will probably continue to do so for future generations, why keep cutting down more trees?
Above all, its made well and can look amazing – if styled the correct way with a mix of art and soft furnishings.
