*Dent of London (Maker’s of “Big Ben”, London) – A very fine Edwardian marquetry inlaid double fusee bracket clock, the mahogany case inlaid with a butterfly
£2,350.00
No expense was spared in the making of this fine clock, starting with a double-fusee movement, striking on a melodic grand gong with pendulum lock for safe travel, the case in near perfect condition.
Edward John Dent founded the company in 1814, one of England's most celebrated clock and instrument manufacturers, making chronometers for Darwin's expedition on HMS Beagle and Livingstone whilst exploring Africa, but by far the most well known being the great clock of Westminster (“Big Ben” is technically the 13 tonne bell).
A rare opportunity to purchase a piece of clockmaking history, this lovely piece has been fully cleaned and serviced and ready for its new owner!
11″ by 7″ deep and 18″ tall
