Scarce “1895 pattern” British Army Infantry Officer’s sword with Victorian Queens cypher to its pierced basket hilt by Manton & Co of Calcutta, including its steel scabbard

£250.00

Maker: Manton & Co. of Calcutta were a British company that manufactured in Britain (often supplied by Wilkinson blades) and exported to the Indian Raj, British Army in India and even Viceroys. They supplied all kinds of militaria.
The “1895 pattern” developed into the “1897 pattern” with a very slight variation of the hilt being rolled to preserve uniform from tarnish. Thus this slightly earlier pattern lasting only for two Years. The 1897 pattern however is still in service even today.
